A grassroots movement for Michigan familiesSee the reform agenda
MICHIGAN COALITION FOR
FAMILY COURT FAIRNESSCHILDREN FIRST. FAIR PROCESS.
About the coalition

A movement built for children, not headlines.

The Michigan Coalition for Family Court Fairness is a father-led, family-welcoming grassroots effort centered on evidence, child safety and constructive, achievable process reform.

Our purpose

Turn lived experience into constructive change.

Many people leave family court feeling overwhelmed by delays, unclear requirements or the cost of litigation. We want to understand where procedures can improve and bring legislators well-documented, privacy-conscious information rather than broad accusations.

We believe every child deserves protection from genuine danger, and that safe parent-child relationships should not be disrupted without an understandable, reviewable basis.

Our public identity is child-centered, nonpartisan, solution-oriented and evidence-driven. Members' individual custody disputes are not litigated through coalition channels.

Our operating principle

Document → Verify → Aggregate → Anonymize → Advocate

We do not equate anonymous stories with proven statewide trends. When we use participant data, we will label it as coalition participant data, verify supporting records where possible and report limitations openly.

Our 90-day operating plan

Organize, connect, then publish.

The coalition presentation sets out a practical sequence for earning trust and creating something useful to policy makers.

DAYS 1–30

Build credibility

Assign workstream owners, set privacy and evidence standards, establish outreach channels and draft initial briefs.

DAYS 31–60

Build relationships

Identify constituent representatives, schedule bipartisan meetings, network with existing advocacy groups and prepare testimony.

DAYS 61–90

Publish & amplify

Review participant accounts, publish a carefully labeled process report and seek specific responses from legislative offices.

How we operate

Clear standards earn public trust.

Privacy before publicity

We do not post children's identities or details of active family disputes. Public testimony requires separate informed consent.

Evidence before assertion

We separate participant accounts from verified records and describe unresolved allegations accurately.

Dialogue over division

We invite responsible input from safety advocates, policymakers, clinicians and people with different viewpoints.

Volunteer workstreams

There's a role for every skill.

Legislative outreach

Map districts, arrange constituent meetings and track concrete policy requests.

Documentation & verification

Design safe intake workflows, source-check key assertions and manage evidence-status codes.

Research & policy

Summarize responsibly reported patterns and turn findings into specific recommendations.

Communications

Coordinate website content, media relationships, volunteer updates and message discipline.

Community partnerships

Reach parents, professionals, other reform groups and stakeholders across the state.

Professional advisors

Offer careful legal, research or child-development expertise to strengthen proposals.

We can't build lasting reform alone.

Join a workstream, introduce us to other advocates, or share a verified first-person experience.
